Hello and thank you for choosing the Creatr HS for your printing needs.

In the following solution you will be instructed on how to replace your Creatr HS heated bed.

Tools:

  • a number 10 wrench;
  • a number 2, 3 and 5 Allen key;
  • a pair of cutting pliers;
  • and 3 tie wraps.

Unbolting the Heated Bed:

    The first step is to turn the printer off. Then using the number 10 wrench remove the 4 nuts holding the heated bed in place see Pic.1

Pic.1

    Make sure to keep track of all the nuts and bolts you will remove. Also at this point you have to remove the felt and right side panels using the number 2 Allen key.

Disconnecting the Wires from the Heated Bed:

  After removing the 4 nuts and the side panels use the cutting pliers to remove the 3 tie wraps circled in the picture below Pic 2.

Pic.2

    After removing the tie wraps next is removing black coiled cable all the way to the interior cover plate and disconnecting the cables from the heated bed the 2 blue connectors indicated in the above picture by the 2 arrows.

Removing the Interior Cover Plate:

   Once all the wires are disconnected it is time to remove the interior cover plate. First using the number 3 Allen key remove the three bolts circled in the picture below Pic.3

Pic.3

    Then using the number 5 Allen key loosen the side bolts of the cover plate so you can remove it Pic.4. BE CAREFUL not to unbolt then all the way trough only loosen them a bit.

Removing the Thermistor:

    The final step in removing the old heated bed is disconnecting the thermistor from the motherboard. To do this unwind the black coiled cable until you can remove it, then disconnect the thermistor circled in the picture below Pic.5.

    After you remove the thermistor it is safe to remove the old heated bed and put in the new one. To properly mount the new heated bed simply follow these steps in the other order they were presented from the last one to the first one.

ATTENTION!

    When connecting the wires of the new heated bed make sure the connectors are pushed all the way trough so as to avoid any unwanted contact between them that may result in a short circuit.

    When you are done with replacing the heated bed start the printer up calibrate it (instructions in the link below) heat it up and start printing.

UPDATE: We recently started producing heated beds with a shortened thermistor cable and installing an extension for the thermistor in the heating element extension as seen in the following image:

If you received a heated bed with a short thermistor wire, you should also have received one of the extensions pictured above. Therefore, STEP 2 above may be a bit different.
